After lots to and throwing over which Logo to use, and discussions with my lecture I decided to step away from the Black and white Myopia logo, as it was said it looked dated. This is the logo that was most appealing below to us both, I felt that I would be able to use the logo more efficiently across all the deliverables.
I decided to tweak the existing logo some more to make make the slogan more defined
As you can see I turned swirl and text Myopia. I used the typeface Saffran Bold for the slogan and added a question mark at the end, I felt that it needed to be a question rather than a statement.
Now that I had my final logo, I was able to begin developing the animated logo. I was going to have it similar to the animated logo that I did for the black logo. From the previous animated logo I was able to reuse the existing logo files and the glitch for the backdrop.
This is my final animated logo. If I’m honest I prefer my previous logo as it think that it was more in keeping with the meaning of the word Myopia. However I am pleased with my final outcome.
To design an animated logo for the exhibition, I created it in AfterEffects. Having used AfterEffects pervious for a animation project I was fairly confident with using it again. And was looking forward to learning more techniques.
I envisioned the animated logo to have a type of view finder crossing over the Logo which would be blurred then going becoming clear as the view finder passes over it. I also wanted to incorporate some existing company logos into it, to take into account consumerism aspect of the exhibition. I created the different components of the logo in illustrator so that each could be animated separately. The process is slow as you can imagine, however I found that I was a lot quicker this time around as I knew the basics.
I really like that smoothness of the animated logo, I felt that it needed something else. I had a look in to some kind of television static that could be added. The static element could represent all the advertising that we see on the television on a daily basis.
After watching many youtube videos on how to create a “glitch” in the animation I managed to get the glitch to play within it. I also downloaded glitch sound effects from https://www.rocketstock.com/free-after-effects-templates/10-free-glitch-sfx-for-video/
After putting together the final cut of the animation with the glitch sound effects the results below.
I enjoyed making this animated Logo. I have learnt more skills when it comes to navigating myself around AfterEffects. Nice to have the confidence to use it as well. Im looking forward to using it again in another project. I can see it being a beneficial skill to have going into the design industry in the future.
